Licensed Practical Nurse

o Monitor the conditions of the Individuals in their assigned worksite in order to detect indications of changes in condition or responses to medication or therapy. o Identify symptoms of illnesses and changes in conditions manifested by individuals, and report such symptoms or changes to a physician or registered nurse in order to provide information useful in diagnosis and treatment planning. o Take temperatures, pulse rates, blood pressures and respiration rates using thermometers, manometers, stethoscopes; o Administer all injectable, j-tube and g-tube medications to assigned individuals. o Implement and monitor the g-tube and j-tube feedings, including changing g-tubes as necessary. o Implement catheterization orders, trach care, deep oral and pharyngeal suctioning. o Assist individuals in collecting urine, stool and other specimens in order to obtain such samples for analysis. o Prepare and maintain charts and other records and treatments administered in order to document such conditions and activities. o Perform inventory of current medical supplies and medications to determine the need for ordering new supplies or medications. o Perform Direct Care duties as assigned

Salary Range:
From $62637 to $66654 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Open Competitive:
Must be active and have a reachable score on the Licensed Practical Nurse eligible list. Transfer:
Must have one year of permanent service as a Licensed Practical Nurse; OR Must have one year of permanent service in a title eligible for transfer under 70.1 of the Civil Service Law; OR Must have one year of permanent service in a title within two (2) salary grades of G-10, and have a passing score and current status on the Licensed Practical Nurse eligible list to be eligible for transfer under 70.4 of the Civil Service Law; Temporary Appointment:
Licensed Practical Nurse is a continuous recruitment examination. Candidates who are not currently on the eligible list may apply for this position and if appointed, will receive a temporary appointment. To qualify, candidates must have one of the following:
o A license and current registration to practice as a Licensed practical Nurse in New York State; OR o A limited permit to practice as a Practical Nurse in New York State. OR o An application on file for a limited permit to practice as a Practical Nurse in New York State. (You must be approved immediately following graduation from an approved school of practicing in New York State to qualify under this option. Note 1:
If you are appointed with a limited permit or have an application on file for a limited permit, you MUST obtain your license within one year of the date of your limited permit was issued or steps will be taken to remove you from the position. Note 2:
Candidates appointed temporary must receive a score that is reachable on the resulting eligible list before they can be permanently appointed. Candidates who are found not qualified or who do not receive a reachable score may not be retained.
