Assistant Engineer Mechanical

The Office of Property Supports and Emergency Services is a centralized support office whose mission is to provide a standardized team approach to the management of Physical Plant Maintenance, Capital Services, Safety and Security, Fire Safety, Emergency Management, Environmental Services, and Food Preparation. The Assistant Engineer Mechanical duties include but are not limited to:
- Supporting Capital Services' Downstate capital operations architecture/engineering team. - Providing technical support to other PSES bureaus and Agency divisions. - Managing and overseeing the physical structures related to engineering compliance for certification of facilities. - Serving as a NYS Certified Code Enforcement Official for the agency. Training provided. - Managing code compliance for engineering, environmental, and energy projects and activities to ensure all facilities are built and maintained in accordance with heating, cooling, and mechanical construction standards for health and safety of residents and employees. - Supervising design and construction activities related to environmental compliance projects and energy savings programs including Executive Orders 166 and 22 regarding energy reduction. - Maintaining the infrastructure of all agency building through a maintenance and construction program and re-commissioning of existing building systems. - Providing oversight support of asbestos abatement construction projects and asbestos activities for the agency. - Overseeing petroleum bulk storage construction projects and compliance with regulations. - Coordinating radon and mold remediation projects. NYS employees may be eligible for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF). PSLF is a federal student loan forgiveness plan that forgives direct loan balances for qualified individuals after 120 qualifying monthly payments. PEF represented employees may be eligible to participate in the Certification and Licensure Exam Fee Reimbursement (CLEFR) program. This program reimburses qualifying employees for job-related and career-related exams that result in first time certification, licensure, or designation at an approved institution or professional association.

Salary Range:
From $67897 to $86140 Annually
Minimum Qualification
Eligible List:
Candidates must be reachable for appointment on Current Civil Service Eligible List for this title. OR Transfer:
Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/c status in the posted title and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1, 70.4, or 52.6 of Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two salary grades. The position may be filled at the Engineer Trainee Mechanical level equated to SG-18, ($61,270), or full performance Assistant Engineer Mechanical SG-20 ($67,897), based on education and experience. Candidates hired at the trainee level will be advanced to the full performance Assistant Engineer Mechanical SG-20 following the successful completion of the traineeship.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
