Catholic Charities Neighborhood Services, Inc. (?CCNS?) is a not-for-profit corporation incorporated in 1947. We are a multi service social service agency with approximately 150 programs and services in Brooklyn and Queens. Among the programs operated by CCNS are day care and head start centers, mental health programs, senior centers, AIDS scattered site housing, prevention programs and a homelessness prevention program.

CCNS is currently seeking to fill a Psychiatrist position for its Outpatient Mental Health Clinics.


Under the direction of the Clinical Manager and/or the Medical Director, the Psychiatrist has responsibility for direct patient care (duties and tasks specified below) as well as the provision of consultation to non-medical treatment providers.? Each psychiatrist is responsible for providing state of the art, professional and respectful psychiatric services to the client population.



?????? Meet Agency requirements for qualitative and quantitative contacts with clients which includes conducting mental status exams, rendering diagnoses in accordance with DSM criteria, providing ongoing psychopharmacology, and assisting non-medical treatment staff with crisis intervention and assessments.

?????? Will be available for consultation and will attend case conference meetings as schedule permits.?

?????? Assessments will be required to be conducted within the time parameters set by the NYS Office of Mental Health and CCNS.?

?????? Psychiatric Evaluations and mental status examinations are typically one hour in length, and medication management sessions are typically ? hour in length.

?????? Complete all quantitative and qualitative documentation within time limits set by CCNS and in the format required.

?????? All assessments are to be completed on agency forms and are to be filed by the end of each business day.

?????? Documentation requirements include writing progress notes for all face-to-face and telephone contacts with clients and collaterals, completing encounter forms and treatment plans as needed, & writing thorough and clinically accurate mental status assessments.?

?????? Accept and respond to client calls to emergency answering service 24/7.

?????? Will work with the clinical team to facilitate successful completion of all continuous quality improvement projects adopted by the agency.?

?????? Will administer intra-muscular injections as required.


?????????????? Doctor of Medicine (M. D.), Doctor of Osteopathy (D. O.) or the equivalent required.

?????????????? Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry required.?

?????????????? Valid New York State DEA number required.

?????????????? One year of postgraduate hospital training in an accredited residency program approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, the American Osteopathic Association, or the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada required.

?????????????? Excellent clinical skills, ability to perform evaluations, diagnose and treat mental illnesses, and have excellent knowledge of psychopharmacology required.

?????????????? Ability to work with children and adolescents.

?????????????? Time management, organizational, and computer skills.

?????????????? Ability to evaluate and intervene in crisis situations.

?????????????? Flexibility to cover other work sites & available for crisis consultation.

?????????????? Excellent oral and written communication skills.

?????????????? Bilingual Spanish/English speaking preferred with the ability to conduct assessments and medication management sessions.?

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
