Position Summary
Our team is experiencing exciting growth within our established practice therefore we need to hire an Office Engineer to the team. The Office Engineer reports to the Resident Engineer (RE), and is responsible for assuring compliance with all plans, specifications, standards and codes. This position requires good communication (both verbal and written) skills, good independent decision making capabilities, and a clear understanding of when issues need to get escalated to the RE. This position also requires a familiarity with the MS Office software.
Monitors the project schedule and budget
Provides document control oversight and performs document control when needed
Prepare for preconstruction meeting (agenda, early action letter)
Oversee Setup and maintenance of project files
Process / distribute / review submittals, RFIs, project documents, correspondence
Generates progress pay estimate or reviews contractor payment application for accuracy; ensures audit proof documentation is compiled for each pay estimate
Manage RFI's, including distribution and log
Assist Inspector in generating monthly quantity calculations
Perform labor compliance / EEO reviews / interviews
Perform claims management tasks
Perform schedule reviewing tasks
Prepare correspondence
Reviews certified payrolls and extra work bills for compliance with prevailing wage laws; conducting or coordinating labor compliance interviews, and documenting nonconformance
Oversee Maintenance of all project logs
Draft change orders/change notices
Responsible for assisting the resident engineer with claims mitigation and dispute resolution, including but not limited to: generating independent cost estimates and scheduling impact analysis; preparing position papers; and presenting to dispute review boards
Contract close-out
Coordinate Track Access and Safety Monitors
Bachelors of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture is required.
Previous experience in the use of AutoCAD, MicroStation, InRoads, or Geopak preferred
Good written and verbal communication skills including the proficient use of MS Office tools (Word, Excel, etc.) is required
Ability to work as part of a team
Exhibits planning and organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure on multiple project deadlines
Demonstrated ability to see a project through to completion
Must currently possess legal authorization to work in the United States. Also, no relocation assistance will be provided.
Essential Functions:
Intermittent sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, and lifting. Lifting requirements limited to 20 lbs. in the form of supplies, drawings, etc. Longest distance carried of 50 feet. Hand manipulation is required for simple grasping, pushing and pulling, and fine manipulation. Right and/or left hands utilized. Occasional need to reach and/or work above the shoulder, for supplies, as well as below the shoulder for same. No foot controls necessary. Must be alert to equipment in the field, there will be occasional travel, will work near construction job site equipment when in the field, occasional need to work near hazardous equipment and machinery, occasional need to walk on uneven ground, exposure to dust, gas or fumes, exposure to noise, extremes in temperature or humidity, and potential work at heights.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
